Over the holidays we stayed with friends in Ottawa and skied in Gatineau park.
Here are Aleksa and Marie-Pierre.
We arrived just after record-breaking snowfall in Montreal and a fantastic season start in Gatineau.
And we were treated with stunning weather while there.
The power of 1980s wind pants kept Aleksa going strong.
On the 31st, we skied in to the camp site near Lac Philippe.
Stomping out a tent spot...
will keep you warm for a while.
As will other camp chores,
especially digging!
We cooked instant Indian food in Aleksa's "snow oven" ...
and drank ginger beer. Happy New Year's!
More beautiful skies and colder weather greeted us in the morning.
Here's CPBL's method of emergency toe-rewarming. The effect is as ω²r plus g, so maximise your speed at the bottom of the swing (aligned with gravity) and point your toes.
Aleksa's a pro after her second time winter camping,
and at the end of her first week on cross-country ski trails.
City schedules called us home.
